Running away….

From hurricane Irene! We decided it would be better to leave than ride out the hurricane. We moved to an Army Corp of Engineers Park at Kerr Dam about a 100 miles west of here. Nice place to hide out till the storm passed. We camped right on the reservoir in a large site!

It was a good thing we decided to leave, when we returned trees on both side of our site had fallen, one totaled our neighbor’s trailer! A little clean up and we were back to normal, at least for us!

Robbie’s started playing football in a Pop-Warner league, he loves football! He plays left guard.

I’ve been working at the Newport News Shipyard as an electrician for the last few months on the USS Theodore Roosevelt Nimitz-class supercarrier. This ship is huge! Here are a couple pictures of the ship from our company’s website.

Our new Trailerhood and The fishing trip

Guess ya’ll have been wondering where we’ve been. Well, we didn’t disappear!! We’ve setup house (trailer) in Suffolk Virginia at Davis Lakes Campground. Nice place out in the country, 3 lakes for swimming and fishing, a cabana for cook outs and karaoke!

This is our little slice of the park

Here is our garden, we have some Jalapenos, Radishes, Carrots, Chives, Sweet Peppers and Tomatoes that the squirrels eat before we can!

Here is the the swimming lake and beach!

Now the fishing trip! We've been hitting the lakes for a couple days now, with not even a bite!

Waiting and waiting...

Finally Jordyn lands an elusive tree fish!

Robbie hooks a big one, only to come off the hook at the end! You can kind of see it in this video.

Virginia Air and Space Center, Hampton VA

The Virginia Air and Space Center is a museum and educational facility in Hampton, Virginia that also serves as the visitor’s center for NASA's Langley Research Center. The museum's permanent collection is housed in a three-story glass atrium accessible from two exhibit floors with an additional catwalk level available for viewing suspended aircraft from above. Volunteers maintain an amateur radio exhibit displaying modern and historic radio equipment. The exhibit also participates in the Space Amateur Radio Experiment where visitors can periodically talk to astronauts aboard the International Space Station.

They have a full passenger jet you can play in. The kids practiced take offs and landings for hours!

The flight simulator! Robbie couldn’t wait to get in here. You get to fly a fighter jet on a mission. The simulator can climb, roll and do loops... Yes loops! We (aka Maverick and Goose, you have to have code names!) started our mission to destroy the enemy air and ground targets. We fought the enemy and won, but not after a couple of tricky inverted air maneuvers!

Spaghetti Tacos… Say what?

After watching “iCarly” on Nickelodeon for the millionth time, the kids talked us into making Spaghetti Tacos. They’re pretty easy to make, the name says it all. Make some spaghetti and sauce and drop it in a taco shell. Surprisingly enough, they’re pretty good, easy to make and not much clean up! Who knew?
